In a quaint coastal town of Nahant Massachusetts , Ron Rowe and his father decided to build a seaworthy lobster boat in their backyard—a true testament to craftsmanship. His father, skills, embraced with the ‘Black Art’ of Boat Building, relying on wisdom and instinct rather than any drawings.
As they gathered different species of lumber and began construction, Ron eagerly absorbed his father's wisdom. Every day, they worked side by side, transforming wood into a sturdy hull and designing features for fishing and leisure. Their bond deepened with every plank they fitted.
After seven months of hard work, the boat was complete. On launch day they moved the boat down the town streets of Nahant to the town wharf.
Ron realized that the journey had not only crafted a vessel but also strengthened their bond. The backyard creation became a cherished memory of adventure and love between father and son—a lasting legacy.
“I never stopped building”
Ron knows the experience has shaped him as much as the vessel itself.
